Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a set of tools that help us to better understand and control the communication and thought patterns between our sub-conscious mind and conscious mind with a view to better understand ourselves. NLP is a psychotherapeutic technique developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1970s, and has been adopted by many organizations, institutions and professionals worldwide.
Particularly, NLP techniques help us to overcome our innermost fears and phobias that are the underlying factors that prevent most of us from taking the most desirable actions.
NLP helps us to take an audit (map) of our thought patterns, beliefs and traditions with a view to eliminate those thought patterns, beliefs and traditions that are of no use to us, while embracing the ones that are helpful.
NLP involves analyzing strategies used by successful individuals in history, and applying them to reach our own personal goals. It relates thoughts, language, and patterns of behavior learned through experience to specific outcomes.
NLP reveals that there is a connection between our neurological processes (neuro-), language (linguistic) and behavioral patterns learned through experience (programming), and that these can be changed to achieve specific goals in life.
NLP strategies can also be applied to "model" the skills of exceptional people, allowing anyone to acquire those skills. Today, NLP is used in a wide variety of fields, including counseling, medicine, law, business, the performing arts, sports, the military, and education. NLP has been used for treating all manner of problems such as phobias, anxiety, depression, psychosomatic illnesses, learning disorders, common cold, short-sightedness and allergy.
Neuro: Refers to the mind or brain, particularly regarding how states of mind (and body) affect communication and behavior. NLP teaches a structural way of viewing mind and body states, developing mental maps that show how things happen and how to change course.
Linguistic: Means that our mind and body states are revealed in our language and non-verbal communication. Language is the tool we use to gain access to the inner workings of the mind. NLP language patterns teach us how to access unconscious information that would remain vague and unknowable otherwise.
Programming: Refer to the capacity to change our mind and body states. It's like living on autopilot. NLP, living means that you're living according to your programming, which consists of habitual thoughts, feelings, reactions, beliefs, and traditions. Someone trained in neuro-linguistic programming knows how such programs are structured in the mind and how to access them through conversation (language) so that outdated programs and autopilot behaviors can be changed.NLP Techniques For Removing FEARS and Phobias
